EA’s E3 presentation revealed that Fifa is no longer the Champion of their League
Fifa has always done a good job of reinventing itself and adding new features. From gameplay dynamics, to new modes such as Ultimate Team or The Journey, each year’s new instalment of the franchise always offered something different.
But this year’s Fifa 19 reveal felt very underwhelming in comparison to the previous two years. There was no gameplay footage for The Journey, and very little insight given into what to expect in this popular mode. In fact, the only new addition that was announced was the inclusion of The Champions League.
The iconic music was a key part of Fifa’s presentation and EA made it a key component to their tease for Fifa 19. But is this enough? We don’t think so…
Seeing as the previous two EA presentations showcased The Journey, it implies that this year’s Journey may not be complete, or as exciting. Obviously, Hunter will be at a big European side, but most of us will have already experienced this in the previous two seasons. Plus we’ve had cup competitions be a big factor for each year too. We don’t think that just adding new music and images is enough to sell us on Fifa 19’s Journey mode.
Perhaps there will be more exciting news to come closer to release. But, for now, it looks as if EA have run dry on ideas and innovation, and are papering over the cracks with their licence for The Champions League.
