Darth Vader reimagines his duel with Obi-Wan in #13 of the Darth Vader comic series
It’s not over for Anakin: this time he has the high ground
Darth Vader strikes back with vengeance in one of the most intriguing parts of the series so far. Issue number 13 begins with Vader picturing his iconic duel with his former Master, but this time Vader has the upper hand (and land). This isn’t the first time The Dark Lord’s meditation had been illustrated by Camuncoli, with some pretty intimidating images included in Issue number 12.
This also is not the first time Vader’s past has come back to haunt him in this series. Issue number 1 opened with flashbacks to Padmé being Force-choked by Anakin, revealing that he’s still haunted by that experience. Plus, in Lords of the Sith Vader remembers his old Master, and the duel they had on Mustafar.
Charles Soule’s opening comics struggled to showcase the depth of character which Vader deserves: focusing more on why he is so intimidating, but the last few issues have beautifully highlighted Vader’s haunted life.
Some of the best Darth Vader moments have come from outside of the movies, and we think this altered-flashback certainly rates right up there!
